 At Key Stage Two, Modern Foreign Languages are delivered through the Lingotot
programme, which provides a structured, engaging, and progressive approach to
language learning. Lingotot provides expert language teachers, ensuring high-quality
interactive lessons.


Lessons cover all three pillars of learning, with a strong focus on recall and phonics, and
are fully aligned with the national curriculum. All Linotot teachers are fluent linguists
with teaching qualifications, including training in assessment, behaviour management
and safeguarding.

Teaching focuses on immersing pupils in the target language through interactive
activities such as songs, stories, role play, and games, ensuring that learning is both
enjoyable and meaningful. Emphasis is placed initially on developing strong listening
and speaking skills, with opportunities to gradually extend into reading and writing as
pupils gain confidence and fluency. The curriculum follows a spiral approach, where key
vocabulary and structures are revisited and built upon over time, allowing pupils to
secure their understanding while extending their knowledge in a systematic and
supportive way. In addition to developing linguistic competence, the programme places
strong value on cultural awareness, encouraging children to learn about traditions,
celebrations, and daily life in countries where the language is spoken. This ensures that
pupils see language learning as a real-world skill, rather than an abstract classroom
exercise. Lessons are designed to nurture confidence, curiosity, and resilience, with a
focus on promoting a positive attitude towards making mistakes as part of the learning
journey. By the end of Key Stage Two, pupils are equipped with a secure foundation in
the target language and an appreciation of different cultures, preparing them effectively
for continued study of Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage Three.
