How you can help your child with science

A few helpful hints and tips for parents

  1. Point out science in the real world e.g. the seasons, transport, condensation on a bathroom window, echoing sounds in different environments.

  1. Allow children to ask questions of you and the world around them. Let them explore their world through finding answers to their own questions – WARNING this can be messy but does mean they are interested.

  1. Encourage them to use scientific vocabulary such as: observe, investigate, track, record, classify, organise, group, research.

  1. Most importantly, don’t panic when your child mentions the word Science. You will know more than you realise, and if you don’t work together to figure out the answer. Your child will love investigating new concepts with you.   Click here to download how to help your child at home.
